A Sign From God

Remember when just yesterday when I mentioned (jokingly) who our next target would be? Well guess who I ran in to at the park today? Yep. Barb...and her dogs...and her body guard. She told my boys that they were cute. Now, I'm no theologian but I'm pretty sure that this is God's way of saying that they are in need of some Rabe blessings. Be on the lookout for our picture on the news...like the FBI most wanted list...

Also, want to know what I never do? Wake up at 5am. Want to know what I did today? Woke up at 5am. I had a breakfast fundraiser for CHARM at 6. Luckily, it was like 5 minutes from my house. Apparently, lots of people wake up at 5am because there was traffic. For a minute I thought my clock was wrong and that it was really 7am.

On Sunday we decided to take the training wheels off Jake's bike. It took him longer to take them off than to actually learn to ride without them. Literally 5 minutes. All he wants to do now is ride his bike 'like men do.' Good thing he has the balancing thing down since we got him a 2 wheeled scooter for Christmas...
A few night ago we drove around looking at Christmas lights. We started this little tradition a few years ago. It consists of popcorn, hot chocolate and our car. Actually, only Rett and I have hot chocolate. I get Jake juice. He hates hot chocolate. Ben had water because he doesn't know what he is missing yet. We go to Tanglewood and River Oaks because they are close and they pay people to put the lights up so you know it is serious. Also, I did not eat my entire bowl of popcorn. I was in charge of refills...
The other day Jake asked to make Christmas cookies. While I love to cook I do not love to bake. I decided it was something we should do though so we did the cookie cutter and icing thing. I refuse to show any pictures of the decorated cookies because you honestly can't tell who did what. They all look like Ben did it. We are not a family of artists. Or musicians. Jake wanted to join the kid's choir at our church. Since Rett and I don't sing I have no idea why. Maybe because his choir Grandmother kept telling him how much fun it would be. Well, he was all pumped and talking about how he was going to dominate his performance. Know what he did? Stood there staring at the guitar man and making funny faces. Rett and I were laughing so hard we were crying. People were staring at us. Pretty sure I saw the guitar man staring at us because we were good parents and sitting on the front row...laughing at the children.... Back to the cookies. We are not a baked goods eating family so we gave some to our neighbor who pretends she is Jake's Grandmother and Rett eats some. We are, however, an orange eating family.

  1. You never cease to amaze me! Barbara Bush? Really? And I thought Jake did great for his first time in front of a huge audience!
